About

The Erode Market Committee, by enforcing the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act, 1987 and its Rules, 1991, regulates the purchase and sale of notified agricultural produce and ensures the efficient administration of agricultural markets. Through its 18 Regulated Markets and 2 Subsidiary Regulated Markets, the Committee operates a tender-based marketing system that uses e-NAM, a pan-India electronic agricultural trading platform. This ensures fair, transparent, and efficient market operations that provide farmers with competitive and remunerative prices while giving traders the advantage of accessing quality produce at a single location.

The Committee further offers modern storage godowns, cold storage facilities, and pledge loans against stored produce to both farmers and traders. With a strong focus on adopting modern technologies, the Erode Market Committee works to reduce distress selling and strengthen the agricultural marketing ecosystem across the district.

Scheme / Initiative

e- National Agriculture Market (e-NAM)

To ensure that farmers receive higher prices for their produce and thereby increase their income, the Central Government launched the Electronic National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) scheme in 2016. Under this scheme, Regulated Markets across the country are integrated into an electronic trading platform, enabling farmers to sell their produce at better prices in a national-level market and helping traders across India purchase goods at fair and competitive prices. Through this electronic trading system known as the National Agriculture Market, 213 Regulated Markets in Tamil Nadu and a total of 1,522 Agricultural Markets across India have been integrated into the e-NAM platform. Accordingly, 18 Regulated Markets under the Erode Market Committee have also been integrated into this scheme, and transactions are being carried out through it.
