The office of the Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Erode Region is a district level office functioning under the Control of The Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Chennai. The Joint Registrar’s office is located in the Co-operative Complex, First Floor, Mohankumaramangalam Street, Surampatti,Erode. The offices of the circle Deputy Registrars of Cooperative Societies functioning in the Erode District are Erode and Gobi Circles. They are functioning are under the control of the Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Erode Region, Erode The office of the Deputy Registrar (PDS) Erode also functioning at Ground Floor of the Co-operative Complex  under the control of the Joint Registrar.

PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM:

 

In Erode District Public Distribution System is functioning for the welfare of the people, who are living in distress and Below Poverty Line (BPL) under The National Food Security Act,2013 .The main objectives of this act is to supply essential commodities like Rice, Sugar, Wheat, Kerosene, Dhall and Oil to poor people  through Fair Price Shops.

THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PUBLICE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM SCHEME:

 

To Protect poor People living in Below Poverty Line (BPL) from hike of prices of essential commodities by providing the essential commodities to poor and especially to hill tribes, the deficiency in physical structure can be reduced. The hike in price of the commodities of  Dhall and Oil can be controlled. Kerosene and Gas cylinder can be supplied at subsidy rates. The Family Card Holders can approach the nearby Fair Price Shops and can get the essential commodities. This scheme provides timely supply of essential commodities every month to the family card holders. The Erode District supply and Consumer Protection Office is functioning under the control of the District Collector, Erode. The applications for getting smart card through website are being scrutinized by the staff of Taluk Supply and Consumer Protection Officers and after field inspection smart cards are issued to the Public through Fair Price Shops.

 

CONSUMER PROTECTION:

The problems of consumers can be solved under Consumer Protection Act, 1986. Awareness created to the Consumers with regard to illegal business adulteration and this will be solved through quality checking and through Consumer Courts. The awareness for consumers has been made through regular workshops and seminars conducted in Schools and colleges by voluntary consumer organization asper the advice of the District Collector, Erode.
