About

District Central Library, which was functioning as a Branch Library of the Coimbatore District Library, was elevated to District Central Library from 1.6.1980 after the formation of Erode District and has been functioning with great glory and splender. This Central Library land was purchased from the Erode Municipality for an amount of Rs.2,45,210.30. This Central Library was built in the Erode VOC Park premises with an area of 5744 square feet at an estimated cost of Rs.17 lakhs and has been functioning well from 22.01.1992.

Admission of Members

To become a member of the Libraries located in Corporations and Municipalities, a caution deposit of Rs. 50/- and a subscription fee of Rs. 10/- making a total of Rs. 60/- has to be paid.To become a member of the Libraries located in Panchayats and Town Panchayats, a caution deposit of Rs.30/- and a subscription fee of Rs.5/- making a total of Rs.35/- has to be paid.

Patron Program

To become a Patron Member Rs.1,000/-, Great Patron Member Rs.5,000/- and a Donator Rs. 10,000/- has to be paid.

Special Features

1.The District Central Library has a special reading software tool for the visually challenged to read known as (Kibo XS Kit (Perpetual)).
2.The District Central Library, Digital Library and Gobi Branch Library 1 has the facility to use Virtual Reality tool.
3.Wi-Fi facilities have been provided in 87 full-time/branch libraries for the usage of students preparing for competitive examinations.

Scheme

A New building is being constructed at a cost of Rs.6 crore in the District Collectorate premises.
