Bhavanisagar Dam
Bhavanisagar Dam, also called the Lower Bhavani Dam, is one of the largest earthen dams in Asia. It is constructed across the Bhavani River near Sathyamangalam and plays a vital role in irrigation and water management in Erode district. The scenic reservoir and surrounding greenery also make it an important tourist attraction.
Kodiveri Dam
Kodiveri Dam is a historic masonry dam built across the Bhavani River near Gobichettipalayam. Originally constructed during the Mysore Kingdom period, the dam is famous for its waterfalls, athing areas, irrigation canals, and picnic tourism.
Varattupallam Dam
Varattupallam Dam is situated near Anthiyur amidst forested hills. The dam supports irrigation and is known for its natural surroundings, wildlife movement, and eco-tourism importance. Elephants and other animals are frequently seen near the reservoir.
Kunderipallam Dam
Kunderipallam Dam is located near Gobichettipalayam in a hilly forest region. The reservoir serves irrigation purposes and is also known for birdlife, fisheries, and scenic landscapes.
Perumpallam Dam
Perumpallam Dam is situated in the Sathyamangalam region and is fed by rainwater from the nearby hills. It supports agriculture and groundwater recharge in surrounding villages.
Kalingarayan Canal & Anicut
The historic Kalingarayan Canal and anicut were constructed nearly 700 years ago by King Kalingarayan across the Bhavani River. The canal irrigates thousands of acres of agricultural land in Erode district and is an important historical water management structure.
Cauvery River
The Cauvery River is the lifeline of Erode district and supports agriculture, drinking water supply, and religious tourism. Important riverfront locations include Bhavani Kuduthurai and Kodumudi.
Bhavani River
The Bhavani River flows through Sathyamangalam, Gobichettipalayam, and Bhavani regions. Several dams including Bhavanisagar and Kodiveri are built across this river.
Noyyal River
The Noyyal River passes through Kodumanal and Kodumudi areas before joining the Cauvery River. It has historical importance connected with ancient Sangam-age settlements.
Vellode Bird Sanctuary Lake
The Vellode wetland area is an important bird habitat attracting migratory birds during winter seasons.
